We will be returning to The Cube Microplex in Bristol for this showcase of experimental film, photography and media arts projects from students of University Centre Weston. Plus a selection of short films from across our BA Film & Media Arts Production degree, including ‘The Quiet Artist’ - a short film shot on location in Ghent, Belgium and ‘Grievance’ a short film shot on location in Perranporth, Cornwall.

Experimental Media Arts Showcase
Projects from the Experimental Media Arts module by first year BA Film & Media Arts Production and BA Photography & Visual Cultures students at UCW.

1. ‘Inside the Camera’ by Alfie Walsh (10m28s)
An unknown man discovers multiple realities through the viewfinder of a camera.

2. ‘Nautilus’ by Nate Sadler (4m36s) The depths of the Pacific Ocean, 1874. The crew of the mysterious submarine known as the “Nautilus” prepare for their daily routine search across the ocean floor for the discovery of new marine creatures. Unbeknownst to them, a fellow crew member, locked in his cabin, fulfils his job role one last time as he prepares for his suicide.

3. ‘I Lived’ by Meg Moody (2m33s)

A mixed media film which shows how precious memories are and how time is measured. Video lets us be in the moment, however a photo can also say a million words.

4. ‘Dreams’ by Alistair Cameron-Kettle (4m 6s)

One night, a toy dragon sleeps, and his dreams take form in his mind. He travels the paths of his imagination, and discovers some of the strangest sights to behold.

5. ‘Movement through Dance’ by Lily Moore (1m20s)
Experimental photography capturing the movement of dance in a still image using flash photography and slow shutter speed.

6. ‘Ask Jake’ by Jake Britton (25m28s)

Almost every day it feels like we’re repeating ourselves, it feels like we’re in a loop. In this Experimental Video Installation, you’ll see time-lapses of some of these repeating moments, from my day-to-day experience.

Two partners are called in to work on their day off, but the stressful nature of their line of work puts a strain on their relationship.
