This is a list of videos that have inspired me in different ways in relation to architecture. I have included a review to each video in my experimental media sketchbook. Videos are in the order in which they apear in my book.

This is my 4th submission to "One Day in San Francisco. Your Day. Your City. Your Future." "Architecture & Landmarks" is a collection of obscure details that defines both the streets and skyline of San Francisco on April 26th, 2014. These are a few of the locations that I captured in this 4 1/2 hour visit: 101 California, The Sentinel Building, The Transamerica Pyramid, The Bently Reserve including the two outdoor sculptures by Armand Arman, and a waiting Cable Car, Camera, Editing, and Original Music composed and performed by Phil Loarie

It attempts to show through film, timelapse and hyperlapse photography the following characteristics of architecture: -The beauty and harmony of structural rhythm -Differences in scale of architecture in relation to the human body -Penetration of light to play with transparency, translucency and opacity -Continuation of the design intent from the form of the building down to the details such as benches, trash cans, lamps etc. -Creation of architectural spaces only with the suggestion of enclosure by structural steel -Accentuated "rising" of architecture from the ground -Elegance of symmetry -Transformation of a building over day and night -Reflection of architecture in water which sometimes "complete" them at night time -Importance of strategically placed artificial lights -The dance of light and shadow over time -Serenity in architecture -Use of local materials (such as typical white spanish fractured tiles in this case) -How sculptures and follies become a part of architectural -Different types of materials and markings on the ground -Water which 1) reflects at night but 2) shows materials beyond through transparency during the daytime -Selective use of color to highlight materiality -Emptiness around the buildings that draw your attention by eliminating distractions -Platforms, terraces and stairs that connect the inside to the outside -The power of color white which draws your eyes to the form by muting other distractions -How natural materials of the landscape architecture contrasts man made materials -Revelation of interior spaces at night time with artificial lighting -Power of size in architecture -Longevity and stability of architecture with the passing of time, moving clouds, sun, trees, people etc. -Ripple effect of water reflected on the buildings-The counter-intuitiveness of sloped walls -Arrival and departure of people into space -Appreciation of beauty and form in architecture -Creation of tension in form with "almost" touching elements -How people use the buildings; kids, couples, families, photographers, tourists etc. -Repetition of shapes and forms in architecture -Connections and joints in structural steel -Required maintenance and manpower to keep the architecture functioning -Cars, bikes, roads, pathways and ramps that act as arteries to bring people in and out of buildings -Advertisement and writings on buildings -How patterning on surfaces add personality to architecture -How structure and architecture become one. Note- this is different from exposed structural elements -Dazzle of unimaginable structural engineering -Motion frozen in time -Power of curved elements in contrast to rectilinear ones -Last but not the least, a comparison of music to architecture Filmed at Ciudad de Artes y Ciencias or The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain. Name of the buildings- Palau de les Arts, Hemisfèric, Science Museum, Umbracle & Agora. Music: 'Peace Piano Edit' by Sonic Adventure Project and 'Shine Instrumental' by Cary Kanno. CG short film based on the building of the Bauhaus University in Dessau. This teaser is part of the project I made for the course I attended this year at CICE school of realism in architecture visualization. All the objects have been modeled by myself in Maya and textured in Photoshop. For render the AOVs I used Arnold and Nuke for compositing and grading. The final video was edited in Final Cut Pro. Hope you like it! For more information about the project, please visit http://facebook.com/lessismoreshortfilm http://twitter.com/limshortfilm

A video snapshot of a five day workshop in the DAZ - Deutsches Architektur Zentrum - with the urban research group Failed Architecture. The workshop looked into the case of the much discussed and often derided Neues Kreuzberger Zentrum (NKZ), a mixed-use redevelopment project dating from the early-1970s at Kottbusser Tor. The music is: Ideal - Berlin For more information www.failedarchitecture.com www.dmau.com @darymul

When I first started Mirror City, I wanted to create a video that was completely out of the norm. I wanted to showcase something unique and artistic, which takes Timelapse photography into a more abstract direction. Mirror City is a visual story through some of the great American cities: Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. These clips were all processed from their original form, into the kaleidoscopic visuals that you see in this video. Many people visit these large cities every day, and all of these places have been shot and filmed, but I wanted to emulate these urban landscapes in a way that nobody has even seen before. I wanted to put man-made geometric shapes, mixed with elements of color and movement to create less of a structured video, and more of a plethora of visual stimulation. The video starts off with simple mirrors and recognizable architecture, as the video progresses, so does the visual stimulation, showing the real abstraction of the piece. I have worked on this piece for an extremely long amount of time. I have spent time mirroring images and videos for the past five years, and I have been working on this specific piece for about four months. I felt it was time to combine Timelapse photography and the simplicity of a kaleidoscope, and create Mirror City.
