The talk will be interesting for any student and staff curious on the apprenticeship, internship or traineeship routes fronted by Creative Skillset. It is also an opportunity for HE students to gather more information about Skillset accredited courses, training programmes and high-quality placements.

'i-Docs 2014: a two-day event, at The Watershed - Bristol, dedicated to the fast-developing world of interactive documentary – exploring the new forms and storytelling practices that are emerging where the internet and mobile technologies meet changing audience behaviours.
i-Docs brings together leading practitioners, producers and scholars to present, debate and reflect on cutting edge and award-winning work. Two full days of focussed and challenging conversations – interrogating new production models, considering methods of engagement and evaluation, exploring new territories for participatory and collaborative media.
Keynote speakers include new media artist Hank Willis Thomas (Question Bridge), documentary storyteller Elaine McMillion (Hollow) and media historian Professor William Uricchio (MIT Open Documentary Lab) and for Thursday evening we are delighted to confirm a special performance of the award winning interactive theatre event – Choose Your Own Documentary.'

Looking to forge a career in the film industry but not sure how to get your foot in the door? An expert, award winning panel consisting of director Rob Savage (Independent film director, Strings), producer Gavin Humphries (Producer at Quark Films), Henry Beattie (Acquisitions Consultant at Transmission Films) and Madeleine Probst (Programme Developer at Watershed) will be discussing their routes into a variety of different sectors - production, distribution and exhibition - at this event hosted by arts charity IdeasTap.

Future Encounters is a showcase of 10 filmmakers whose work demonstrates a distinctive cinematic and/or artistic vision. We believe they are talent to look out for in the years ahead. During a special event on Thursday 19 Sept at 12:15, Peter Carlton (Warp Films) will lead a discussion with the creative teams, which all have work selected in competition, to find out who they are and where they are going next.

Laws, protocols and routines inform our everyday lives, giving us a sense of security and structure. An uncompromising youth court, a community stifled by an ancient code of retaliation, an insight into offbeat marital routines and a found-footage lecture on the holy trinity of modern capitalism provide the rich canvas of a programme navigating a world dictated by various sets of rules.

Franz Treichler, founder of the legendary Swiss band The Young Gods, performs a live soundtrack for an overview of experimental films of the 20th century, screened on 16mm film. For this project, the guitarist has re-scored films by instigators of the Dada Movement (Hans Richter, Man Ray), artists affiliated with the Fluxus movement like James Riddle, and works by Jean Painlevé, Martin Arnold and Stan Brakhage.
