Dan is a TV & Film Editor with over 19 years experience in the cutting room. Specializing in TV Drama, his credits include working on Jed Mercurio’s groundbreaking medical drama, Critical (Hat Trick Productions/Sky1); The Last Kingdom (Carnival PIctures/ Netflix); Harlots (Monumnetal Pictures/HULU) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s BAFTA award winning Spy Thriller, Killing Eve (BBC America) -starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer- for which he was recently nominated for an EMMY in 2019 and won the ACE ‘Eddie’ award for Best Commercial Drama (Season 2, Episode 4 “Desperate Times”)

WRITER/ DIRECTOR - SARMAD MASUD talking with TEAAT3WITHMAMFROMAGE

Sam Masud recently the Bulletproof Special for Vertigo and Sky, having also directed on Season 2 of the series. He also recently directed on Ackley Bridge for The Forge and Channel 4.

His first feature My Pure Land, is set and filmed in Pakistan and based on the extraordinary true story of one woman and her family who defended their home and land from 200 bandits. It premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and was the UK submission to the Oscars in the Foreign Language category. Sam was also nominated as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow.

Previously Sam’s short film; Two Dosas, funded by Film London was voted best film in their London Calling Plus category by David Yates and then went on to pick up numerous awards on the festival circuit; winning at London Short Film Festival, Aspen shortsfest, River to River in Florence and Shufflefest voted by Danny Boyle. Sam also wrote and directed Adha Cup which was the first Urdu language drama commissioned by Channel Four, going on to develop it as a six part TV series with the BBC.

RICH WARREN, Festival Director of ENCOUNTERS FILM FESTIVAL

Rich will be talking about the upcoming (and original) Short Film Festival, how they have moved it online and give his thoughts on what makes a great short festival film

Initially starting live as Brief Encounters back in 1995 as a one off event to mark the centenary of cinema, the festival as gone from strength to strength. Animated Encounters was added to the fixtures in 2001 and in 2006 the two festivals united to become the Encounters Short Film Festival. Since then the festival has grown in standing, becoming a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards short film category. https://www.encounters.film/
