Blue is The Warmest Colour and Fish Tank

Recently I watched two films, both about teenage girls trapped in their life and identity.

Blue is the Warmest Colour (the 2013 Palme d'Or winner) is about a young girl lost in her own sexuallity and the expectaions society places upon her because of it. Whereas Fish Tank is about a dissillusioned british teenager, absent of friends or an attentive and loving mother, finding comfort in her mothers new boyfriend.

Blue is the Warmest Colour has arguably some of the best and most subtle cinematography I have ever seen, it's also, in my opinion, the best film of 2013 by far, causing me to urge as many people as I can to watch it.

Fish Tank is yet another film with beautiful cinematography, and from what I can tell is influenced by mumblecore, it manages to engage the audience and make you want to almost stand still in the moment as the characters evolve and progress.

Both films I would highly recommend.
