About

My name is Edward Bugler and I am a co-operative person who is experienced in many roles within the field of film and media production. I have recently completed a BA (with honours) in Lens-Based Media at University Centre Weston.

A corrupt video log is found by an alien species in the distant future. The video is traced back to 2025 Earth and describes how mankind met its end.

Nature is tranquil and peaceful and must be protected from the industrial and invasive ways of modern civilisation.

Nerves run high as a man attempts to complete the foreboding ā€˜Man in the Fields’ ritual, little does he know he is terribly underprepared.

After being littered on the pavement, a determined Thatcher’s can embarks on a mission to be recycled and nothing will stop it.

After sourly losing a bet, Lewis has been ordered to perform a makeshift ritual designed to summon the devil, documenting his results with nothing but a Polaroid camera.

An experimental short film which takes imagery that is seen on a day to day basis and juxtaposes it with contemporary global crises.

A documentary exploring the devastation of the Great British earthquake of February 17th 2018.

Lake is a short observational documentary which showcases the wildlife that inhabits Backwell Lake and the litter that puts a dent in the otherwise beautiful scenery. Litter is and has always been something that has a negative impact on the environments health and aesthetic. The environment is only one of the victims of litter, the animals that live in these environments are also in danger of the overgrowing waste. The film compares the way nature appears with and without litter, and how this affects the wildlife.

A film made in the style of 'Mumblecore' depicting two college students discussing their personal lives.

A short film about a homeless woman in Lisbon who is given a second chance.

A collaborative piece working with 2nd Year Performing Arts students in the form a remade scene from Pineapple Express (2008).

Simmer is a short film that takes place in the early 1960s in France. An eerie atmosphere accompanies a French housewife’s craftsmanship when preparing a potful of tomato soup. Tension rises from the moment the oven is switched on and the ingredients are chopped, mixed and stirred.

Since starting University, I have been given the opportunity to expand my practice as a contemporary artist. This practice has enabled for psychological and emotional exploration of self, using a range of mediums with the core emphasis on photography, performance and installation.
I have been able to reflect critically on my work as an artist and engage publicly having giving a lecture at a recent RPS symposium and through continued exhibiting with a positive and emotive response.
My work has enabled me to gain insight into my psyche, aided by verbal therapy this exploration has led to identification and self-reflection, restoring equilibrium within myself.

I find it infinitely fascinating that observing or creating art can tap into the psyche and reveal revelations that provide a basis for healing. This has become a key within my practice and having recently been accepted onto the MA Art Psychotherapy course at USW. I am excited to expand on the skills I have developed personally, to transferrable skills for a wider practice. Ultimately helping others uncover the powerful tool of art to aid healing.

The Paper Tales of Philomela

This is a continuing two year project that will extend beyond my degree at UCW.

I use the story of Philomela and Procne from greek mythology within self portrait sessions, used as a springboard for enactment to tap into the inner psyche.
Over the course of two years I have used Philomela’s story of rising up from oppression as a mirroring of my own journey through detaching from a toxic marriage.

Mythology is Primitive, yet specific in content and relatable through the use of symbolic gestures rather than literal interpretation of the story. If you can stand beside another’s darkness often the darkness is drawn from within your own soul.

In 2017 I set up my own travel documentary brand called Explorer Buddies, working in partnership with my wife. Making travel documentaries for our YouTube channel, focusing on our travels in our own hand made camper van, as well as wild camping and hiking adventures.

In a short time we have made some very fast progress. Achieving 16k followers on Instagram @florence_and_the_morgans. We have over 5k subscribers to our YouTube channel - Explorer Buddies, with views of over 30k on our most popular travel documentary. We were signed to a media agent – Media Drum World and an article in the Daily Mail was published telling our story. We were invited to be ambassadors of a handmade camper van festival Camp Quirky. We have developed the production values of our films, with each new film we produce, incorporating new filming and editing techniques and improved film making equipment. Please visit the website link for more details on Explorer Buddies.

I am currently studying on the Film and Media arts production course at UCW in Weston-Super-Mare.

CHLOE PALMER

About Me

I am a Portrait and Fashion driven photographer with a strong sense of styling with a purpose.

Photographing on location (Streets/Outdoors) is a key element to my work as I make sure the background is just as important as the subject displayed. The background needs to compliment the foreground to create a more successful piece. I thrive in making work that boost people’s confidence, capturing their originality and beauty.

For myself, I feel it is very important to have a connection with an image. If I have a connection, it is likely that others will too. By doing so, I tend to create a personal concept behind each image. Whether it’s personal to me or the subject.

Myself and Chloe Tyler have created a Sustainable Fashion Magazine, called Rotate. Magazine. Available to download at https://rotatemagazine.co.uk . We are both passionate about being sustainable within the fashion industry and our homes.

I’ve always used photography as a way to remember the good and the bad, inviting audiences into a visual diary of the moments that mean the most to me. As a student at UCW, I have experimented with a variety of different styles and identities. My current project, ā€˜The show must go on’ combines all of those different approaches that i have taken in the past into one series, that represents the rave scene during crisis.
