Creative Brief

Filmmakers and directors are invited to submit a 3-5 minute short film inspired by the theme: 'Making A Go Of It' "As the world around us changes rapidly, it seems we are constantly striving to either get ahead or get by. This year we are looking for stories about moving forward in life, love or loss and the pursuit of what makes us inspired to keep going. Sometimes these are happy stories and sometimes they are poignant, but they always change the way we look at the world." - Sundance London

CineMe 'Set the Scene' Film Competition - extended deadline

CineMe have extended the deadline for the CineMe Set the Scene competition to February 15th.

"Prizes includes cash (£500 in total), Shooting People subscription and 6 months office space at The Set (HTV Studios). CineMe invites submissions of short films based upon The Set’s ethos of "Collaboration."

Filmmakers are free to interpret this theme in any way they imagine and the competition is open to all genres, including drama, comedy, science fiction, animation and documentary. You are welcome to submit an existing film you have made as long as it meets the competition criteria. Entries can be posted or sent by email. Open City Docs Fest

Open City Docs Fest is a live festival devoted to exploring the world we live in through the vision of documentary film.

'Open City Docs Fest is now open to submissions for its 2014 Festival on 17-22 June.

They have now launched their international call for film submissions for both established and emerging talent.

The 4th edition of the festival will take place over 6 days in June, in venues around central London and UCL's Bloomsbury campus.

2013 Jurors included Jeremy Irons, Anne Applebaum, Kim Longinotto, Katerina Cizek, Andre Singer and Brian Hill.

The award categories for 2014 include Grand Jury Award, Best Emerging Director, Best UK Documentary, Best Short Film and Best MyStreet Film.

Runner’s Basic Training Programme

The Production Guild launches new regional Runner’s Basic Training Programme

The Production Guild has launched their new regional Runner’s Basic Training for film and TV drama. This UK wide training programme is supported by Creative Skillset‎ and is designed to prepare new entrants for working in the film and TV Industry.

Over the 2 days, participants will gain a good understanding of how the industry works, and find out about etiquette and what is expected of them in such a demanding, yet rewarding work environment. It will also help to channel peoples’ ambition into achievable career routes in film and TV. Speakers will be top working professionals working in UK film and TV drama. Dates and locations
