Looking to forge a career in the film industry but not sure how to get your foot in the door? An expert, award winning panel consisting of director Rob Savage (Independent film director, Strings), producer Gavin Humphries (Producer at Quark Films), Henry Beattie (Acquisitions Consultant at Transmission Films) and Madeleine Probst (Programme Developer at Watershed) will be discussing their routes into a variety of different sectors - production, distribution and exhibition - at this event hosted by arts charity IdeasTap.

12:15 FUTURE ENCOUNTERS WATERSHED C1 PANEL

Future Encounters is a showcase of 10 filmmakers whose work demonstrates a distinctive cinematic and/or artistic vision. We believe they are talent to look out for in the years ahead. During a special event on Thursday 19 Sept at 12:15, Peter Carlton (Warp Films) will lead a discussion with the creative teams, which all have work selected in competition, to find out who they are and where they are going next.

15:15 INT 4: CODES OF CONDUCT WATERSHED C3 IN COMPETITION

Laws, protocols and routines inform our everyday lives, giving us a sense of security and structure. An uncompromising youth court, a community stifled by an ancient code of retaliation, an insight into offbeat marital routines and a found-footage lecture on the holy trinity of modern capitalism provide the rich canvas of a programme navigating a world dictated by various sets of rules.

Franz Treichler Plays Dada

Franz Treichler, founder of the legendary Swiss band The Young Gods, performs a live soundtrack for an overview of experimental films of the 20th century, screened on 16mm film. For this project, the guitarist has re-scored films by instigators of the Dada Movement (Hans Richter, Man Ray), artists affiliated with the Fluxus movement like James Riddle, and works by Jean Painlevé, Martin Arnold and Stan Brakhage.
