Everyday Activity - Film Production Skills

Documentary Production

This documentary-style photoshoot is a visual and narrative exploration of personal real-life issues of social media, combining photography and storytelling to highlight personal experiences and social challenges. Created as part of my creative practice, it captures moments that are often overlooked, inviting the reader to pause, reflect, and engage.

GROUP FILM PROJECT: TBC - Film Production Skills

I worked as Director of Photography (DOP) on TBC, a mixed media film which showcased our variety of different ideas within the project. As DOP, I was responsible for the film’s visual style, capturing the different atmospheres of Lille, the suspenseful tone of the murder mystery idea, and the range of different stories the film displays. I worked closely with the director and editor to plan shots that enhanced the story’s outcome.

EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT

For my experimental media project, I explored painting my negative images with caffenol, these images posted above are the images which were taken digitally but also with a film camera. I printed my own photographic negatives, which I then used photographic paper to then expose the images onto. Through this process, I was able to blend natural forms with my own photography, experimenting with light, texture, and composition to create visually rich and tactile pieces.

Documentary Production -Prisioner A9**9DR

For my documentary piece, I did a newspaper article on my nephew and his battle with rehabilitation. This was some of the photographic pieces I used. This project was close to my heart and become a good platform for communication between my nephew and probation services.

EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT

Multimedia installation focused on memories and loss of loved one.

For my experimental media project I constructed a multimedia installation focused on memory and loss of my father. I produced an installation with light up wings with a base constructed to look like clouds and sky. I suspended from the base, my childhood photographs and photographic pieces of my life with my father. I constructed it all to flow into each part all together creating the narrative of ‘ although my father is not long on this earth physically, he lives on through my memories’. I explored painting with light and the photographic pieces I produced, I projected them over my construction piece.

This piece was extremely important to me, I feel I successfully demonstrated a memorial piece that presented the love I shared with my father.

INDUSTRY PRACTICE

Industry practices - pet photography pieces.. I have done some photographic shoots with pets and owners.

Industry practices of doing shoots for additional needs children birthdays.

Its very challenging to get pictures of children with additional needs. My years of additional needs training has helped me to get some natural pictures of children at birthday parties and some just to have of their children. I get a lot of opportunities in this area.

I was the camera operator for only the podcast scenes and the editor of this whole project.

Documentary Production

For the documentary project, I made a short documentary film all about Home Education.

For this project I was all roles.

EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT

For my experimental media project, I made a short experimental film, this is the synopsis a young girl wakes up in an unfamiliar, dreamlike world where reality feels distorted. As she moves through empty and shifting environments, she walks through locations from her childhood that appear in unclear and unsettling ways. A shadow-like creature follows her through these moments, representing hidden trauma and emotional memories that she cannot escape. As she travels deeper into this world, creating a surreal and psychological journey through nostalgia, childhood, and fear.

I was every single role in this project.

Films and Projects

1st YEAR

Everyday Activity: Scrambled - Film Production Skills

My first film about the dramatic tale of a man who just wants a nice plate of scrambled eggs. Written, filmed and edited as a solo project.

GROUP FILM PROJECT: TBC - Film Production Skills

I wrote and directed our group film project TBC, as well as mixing sound and creating the colour grade. Mostly shot in Lille, France, and premiered at the Cube cinema in Bristol.

Jingle Jam - Documentary Production

My documentary focused on sharing the story of The Jingle Jam. An annual Bristol-based charity gaming event that raises millions each year.

Restoration - Experimental Media Arts

My experimental media project involved digitising archive film reels (bought on eBay) and using the footage to create something new. Based loosely on the Japanese principle of Kintsugi, Restoration aims to bring this old, forgotten, discarded footage back to life, to honour its history and provide a window into life in a different time.

Industry Practices

A music video I directed for a music student. This is a rough cut I edited to experiment with multicam editing.

I am the main editor for the Just Checking podcast, which focuses on information surrounding OCD.

I was the sound recordist for Project Amber, a student project currently still in production.

EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT

For my experimental media project,My film explores the relationship between people and cars through my red Ford Fiesta. The car is presented as more than just a mode of transport; it becomes a symbol of freedom, independence, and personal identity. Through moving images, sound, and different camera angles, the film highlights the design, movement, and character of the vehicle. The project also reflects on car culture more broadly, examining how cars can create emotional connections and become part of everyday life. By focusing on an ordinary car, the film encourages viewers to consider the significance of vehicles in modern society and the stories attached to them."

For a more experimental-media-focused explanation, you could add:

"The film uses close-up shots, motion, light reflections, and engine sounds to transform familiar automotive imagery into a visual and sensory experience. This approach invites the audience to see the car from a new perspective, exploring themes of movement, technology, and personal expression."

If you tell me what actually happens in the film, I can make the description more specific to your project.
