Viktorija Chvirago
About Me
I am Viktorija Chvirago, a student at UCW Studying BA (Hons) Film & Media Arts Production. I began my creative journey through Art and Design (Photography) at Level 1 and Level 2, but photography had been a hobby before that. Wanting a change in my career, I took a deep dive into visual arts —starting with photography and naturally moving into filmmaking.
My mind is always in the creative world, exploring new ways to tell stories and express ideas. I believe your job should be something you love doing, not just a way to make money. For me, creativity is not just a passion — it’s a way of life.

What began as a simple project to film an everyday activity gradually transformed into a heartfelt advert for UCW and the Film and Media course. Blending real moments with personal reflection, the video captures my creative journey and invites others to follow their own path into the world of film.
Documentary Production
This documentary-style newspaper is a visual and narrative exploration of real-life issues, combining photography and storytelling to highlight personal experiences and social challenges. Created as part of my creative practice, it captures moments that are often overlooked, inviting the reader to pause, reflect, and engage.
GROUP FILM PROJECT: BARROW CURSE - Film Production Skills
I worked as Director of Photography (DOP) on The Barrow Curse, a short horror film about three friends who go wild camping near an ancient “cairn”—and unknowingly awaken a sinister presence. As DOP, I was responsible for the film’s visual style, capturing the eerie atmosphere of the field, the suspenseful tone of the curse, and the transformation of one friend into part of the barrow itself. I worked closely with the director to plan shots that enhanced the story’s mystery and tension.
EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT
For my experimental media project, I explored cyanotype photography. I printed my own photographic negatives onto acetate sheets. These elements were combined in layered, experimental compositions to produce a series of unique cyanotype prints. Through this process, I was able to blend natural forms with my own photography, experimenting with light, texture, and composition to create visually rich and tactile pieces.
