Films and Projects

1st YEAR

Everyday Activity - Film Production Skills

A short film for the first brief of the year, ‘Everyday Activity’ where we had to make a short (at maximum running time of less than five minutes) film. I had chosen to base mine around two people walking their dogs on the beach, turned into a promotional film based on those from the 1930’s to the 1970’s.

TRansformers: a toy timeline - Documentary Production

A Documentary film for the second brief of the first year. I based mine on the evolution of the Transformers Toy-line and how the toys had improved and been refined over the years.

RESIDENTIAL FILM PROJECT: the quiet artist - Film Production Skills

The Quiet Artist is a short film that we made about a photography student with selective mutism traveling around the city of Ghent, in Belgium. This was what we made for the 1st year residential brief.

When the film was submitted to the Royal Television Society film festival, it won a craft award for sound, which was given to me due to me being responsible for the Sound for the film.

DREAMS - EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA ARTS PROJECT

A short film that I created for my experimental module. This film experiments with how to achieve visual effects without using digital elements.

2nd Year

WESTON’S MINIATURE RAILWAY - ONE LOCATION

This was a documentary film created as part of my ‘One Location’ brief for the Independent Craft Development module for the second year. The film had to be set in one location and be no longer than five minutes.

SET DRESSING - NO DIALOGUE

This film was created for the second brief for the Independent Craft Development module. It had to tell a story without using spoken dialogue, and be no longer than five minutes. The film follows the story of a man who sets out to complete a Thunderbirds diorama that he is building.

HOMECOMING - SHORT FILM PRODUCTION

This film was part of our Short Film Production module, and was a residential group film shot in Boscastle over a period of five days. I performed in the role of Sound Recordist for the film, while also acting as Producer for Pre-Production and Post-Production.

MENAGERIE - FINAL FILM

This is my final film for the second year’s Independent Craft Development module. This time, there were no restrictions for our projects, so we were allowed free reign. My film ended up being a sketch comedy short film with nine sketches and being filmed using stop-motion animation, still photography, and model shots.

FILMS BEFORE UCW

A Short film that I made as my Final Major Project for the third year of my college course, before I went on to University.

A Stop-Motion animation short film that I made for my FMP for Year 2 of my college course during the Pandemic.

A fan-made episode of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends that I made over the Summer months of 2020, in tribute to one of the narrators, who had passed away in May of that year.

MEGAN MOODY

About Me

Taken by Meg Moody

I’m currently studying BA Film and Media Production at UCW- University Centre Weston, I previously studied at Weston College where not only did I study media but also studied art and design. In Weston College I did Art & Design Level 1&2 then went on to the film and media courses Level 1 - 3.

My main preference is that I like editing and seeing my work go through and the changes I make, however i’m good at being a producer and have had the role many of times on projects I have done in the past.

I am developing my own style with the videos I create and so far have been heavily based around family, the style I have gotten confident with is like a vlog style and i’m very confident with it.

NATE SADLER

About Me

My name is Nate Sadler and I'm a Film and Media Production Arts student at UCW (University Centre Weston). I previous studied at Weston College on the Media Production course as I had a keen interest in pursuing a career in the Film industry specifically. I've wanted to work in the film industry since I was six years old and began making my own films at that age also. I was felt that I could use filmmaking as way of telling the stories personal to me and to create believable characters that break away from the typical stereotypes we see in film for better representation.

My main preference amongst all the job roles in film, is Cinematography. I want to use the three years I have on this degree course to explore various works of famous Cinematographers and also developing my own visual style, putting everything I have learnt into creating a signature look that I makes my work stand out as my own.

My love for Cinematography came from my late Grandfather who was an avid Photographer and would teach my about lighting and framing for stills and film. I like to think that his legacy continues with me venturing down the path of becoming a Cinematographer.
