Harley Robert Bridgman

Hey there partner!

My name is Harley Robert Bridgman. I am a second year student, studying film at University Centre Weston (UCW). I have always loved storytelling in every medium, particularly film and television and carry a lifelong innate appreciation for film as an art form. I am especially captivated by tales of triumph, stories of struggle, battles for survival. Seeing realistic, flawed characters with rich, in-depth backstories and intriguing personalities overcome seemingly unbeatable odds and defeat seemingly undefeatable enemies. As a visual person, I am particularly interested in directing but because of my passion for storytelling, writing is also another area of interest for me.

Over the course of my second academic year as a film student, I have made various, wildly different films for both myself, personal projects and the like, as well as worked on a varied selection of films for numerous vastly different clients with striking artistic visions and uniquely intriguing personalities of their own, helping them to achieve their creative end goals in a variety of different challenging roles with their own set of responsibilities.

Below, you will find every single film that I have worked on during my first two years at UCW, including all of my personal projects and films I have worked on for others.

The Badder, the Baddest and the Somehow Even Uglier.

Bloodlust.

Genre = Drama/Thriller.

Tagline = Stay sharp or wind up dead.

Logline = A hopeful rookie soldier helps a young, injured girl during an unexplained crisis that has decimated the staff and the patients of a local hospital.

Synopsis = A private company security force soldier, COOPER, dressed in all-black combat and tactical gear, armed with a Glock pistol strapped safely to his thigh, wheels a teenage girl, BONNIE, into an empty hospital. Bonnie has sustained an unexplained injury as she can be seen with a bloody bandage tied tightly around her lower thigh and so, is being pushed around in a wheelchair. Cooper wheels her through a hallway, stopping at a set of double doors and peering inside the room through the tall, narrow windows. He opens the doors and pulls Bonnie inside the hospital ward, drawing his sidearm and performing a swift sweep of the room to ensure the duo’s safety. Once confirming the ward is clear of any and all hostiles or threats, Cooper begins searching the room for any medical supplies that he can use to treat Bonnie’s wound with but has no luck. Cooper approaches the wheelchair and kneels down in front of Bonnie, calmly and patiently explaining to her that he must leave her here where he knows that it is safe, at least for now.

The Bad, the Slightly Less Bad and the Average Looking.

Genre = Western.

Tagline = Watch your back or you may find a bullet in it!

Logline = When a mysterious gunslinger strolls into town, a young man with an ambiguous past must face a menacing opponent and accept the challenge of a deadly duel.

Synopsis = A brooding, threatening, nameless figure, a bounty hunter, wielding a revolver, wrapped in a poncho, cowboy hat and other western-style getup, slowly makes his way down a long stretch of road, as cautious nut curious townsfolk watch on attentively from behind the relative safety of their windows. The gunslinger reaches reaches the end of the street and approaches his bounty target, an average looking man, brandishing a pair of sunglasses, sitting comfortably in a chair, facing the sun. The man gets to his feet and turns to meet eyes with the gunslinger. The pair stare each other down for a short while before drawing their weapons and both firing shots off at each other simultaneously. At first, it is unclear who has been hit, if either of the men even have at all. After a brief moment, the gunslinger’s hat gracefully glides to the floor, having been shot off of his head by the other man. “Sunglasses Man” stumbles, clutching at his throat, before crashing to the ground, dead. The gunslinger’s shot, a fatal one. The gunslinger turns, picks up his hat and puts it back on his head as he steps over the body of his latest victim and walks away, leaving the corpse on the ground.

About Me

I am a second year student that will obsess over film making when the right idea is in my head, I love cinematography and analysing the key aspects in film. I also enjoy working with others and I often imitate ideas I’ve seen in film or tv and give them my own interpretation or recreate them with my own ideas and style.

First year Films and Projects

Everyday Activity Short Film

This was the first film i had ever made on my own and was a simple idea that i believe worked well for a short low budget film, i only had me and my dad to produce this film so we had to play around with ideas to create suspense and horror such as making the ghost be represented through a first person POV.

Documentary

For this film i had been asked to produce a documentary of any kind so i decided that i would make one about my hometown ‘Nailsea’ as it has lots of history in the production of glassmaking. When creating this film i decided that i would attempt a mockumentary part of the film which i believed to be very comedic.

Experimental Media Project

For this project i decided that i would experiment with perspective on a camera lens and went around my house during its extension works and used this as an opportunity to shine a different perspective on how we view day to day objects.

The Mission

This was a group film shot in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and was directed by myself. This film takes you through lots of build up and suspense for and ending that subverts your expectations.

In this showreel i edited together the majority of the projects i worked on from my first year in film UCW

FIlms and Projects Year 3 (2023- 2024)

This year, George has taken a behind the camera role, choosing to focus more on documentary work making two documentaries. The first called, Being Partially Sighted exploring what it means and what it is like to be visually impaired. It features his friend Seb who has the condition Cerebral Visual Impairment. The second documentary is called Inside Hospital Radio about one of his interests which is radio, in particular Hospital Radio. STAR DAVEY

About Me

I love The Little Mermaid! Anyway I am currently in my 3rd year studying a Film and Media degree.

I have learnt so much and have really enjoyed making short films. Prior to this course, I had no experience in this field other than script writing as a hobby.

I now also really enjoy editing in Premier Pro and also cinematography. My aspirations are to work as a runner for a production company and progress from there. I’d love to write for TV drama as I watch almost everything there is! I also love binge watching murder documentaries on Netflix and documentaries on health and wildlife.

I have a great family supporting me and I’m lucky enough to have six fantastic other students on my course who are so caring and helpful and make me laugh when I’m down. I also have amazing tutors and a fantastic welfare team that I can check in with anytime I want. I could not do this course without their support and help. Especially as I’ve been out of education for so long and struggle with my confidence and anxiety.

Bye. X

Films and Projects

Everyday Activity Short Film - Poo & PJ’s

We had to make a short film based on an everyday activity. I decided to do a comedy style film called Poo and PJ’s. It was based at my home with my daughter and husband in. It was the first film I’ve ever made and edited.

Documentary - Me, Myself & Mental Health

For another project for my course we had to make a documentary. I decided to make one called Me myself and mental health. I wanted to high light my own personal mental health struggles but also the treatment I currently receive and the support I get.

My Documentary about my mental health is unsuitable for under 18’s and I have chosen not to add it to this page.

Other Videos/Projects I have worked on - Shuffle

I helped on a year 2 Project called Shuffle. A short film by Will Stephens.

I played an extra. It was really good to see a year 2 project where they used equipment that I haven’t used yet such as a track and dolly.

DIRIGO

9th International Student Film Festival

Dirigo is an International Student Film Festival directed and produced by BA Film & Media Arts Production students from University Centre Weston. This festival aims to inspire and showcase the creativity of student filmmakers worldwide. It is an open festival with no set boundaries; we actively encourage new styles, voices, and directions.

What I did

When working with the team on the Dirigo Film Festival, I was part of the social media team, when working on the socials I was tasked with posting key dates festival information, and trailers on multiple social media platforms.

I was also part of the selection process and helped decide what films will be screened and win awards, this was one of the most enjoyable tasks of the Film Festival as I got to watch many films from many different countries from around the world and see the nuances within film making from country to country and person to person.

Other tasks involved keeping the sites all up to date with the latest information about Dirigo posting the latest deadlines for the submission dates and screening information.

GEORGIA SPENCER - GoldenEye Productions

About Me

I first started loving television when I started reading Jacqueline Wilson's books, and saw them turn into series'. It inspired me to start writing scripts to film with my friends. I first started writing a 4 page script when I was eight years old, with no knowledge at all and only a passion. Today, I have completed a 30 page screenplay for an original pilot episode of a television series, which I feel is one of my greatest achievements.

I enjoy creating world's that I've thought of in my head and making them into the real thing, using film and series' as an outlet. It allows me to design these worlds, with story-lines and characters to be however I want them to be.

I became interested in animation when I did my Information Technology course at Weston College. I made a short animation and I loved doing it. My liking for editing also started here, with the world of premiere pro, i loved to fit pieces of videos together, like pieces of a puzzle!
